August 27, 2019 (RCBG) – Buffalo Grove, IL. Are you feeling like a lucky duck? If so, purchase one—or even a flock of them—for the Buffalo Grove Rotary Club’s annual Duck Race Fundraiser. The race will take place on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. at Mike Rylko Park, 951 McHenry Road in Buffalo Grove during Buffalo Grove Days near the carnival entrance. Winners need not be present to win cash prizes, which include $1,500 for the first place duck, $500 for second place, $250 for 3rd place, and $100 in cash for the next 10 ducks that cross the finish line!
Ducks can be purchased until 4:30 p.m. this Sunday. One ‘Lucky Duck’ is $5, a ‘Quack Pack’ (six ducks) is $25 or a ‘Flock of Ducks’ (25) are $100. Visit bgrotary.org to purchase your duck today!
Funds raised support the Buffalo Grove Rotary Club’s many charitable efforts that assist the local and international community. Among the local initiatives are a foreign student exchange program and academic scholarships for Buffalo Grove and Stevenson High School students, community grants for organizations that serve the Buffalo Grove area, and holiday food baskets for in-need local families. International efforts include a reciprocal foreign exchange student program, in addition to clean water efforts and polio eradication initiatives, as well as yearly mission trips to Guatemala.
In addition to duck sales, corporate sponsorships are another way that funds are raised. This year a record has been broken, with 17 corporate sponsors who have signed on and provided their support.
“We are thrilled to see how our business community has wrapped around our club, so that can continue all of our good works throughout the year,” said Club President Bill Donahue. “The community is invited to join us this coming Sunday at 5:00 p.m. to root on the ducks to the finish line!”
