Area first responders are =invited to participate, and a number of other challenges and activities are open to the general public at the First Responders’ Challenge/Family Fest on Saturday, August 22.

June 3, 2015 (VMPR) – Palatine, IL. Now in its second year, the First Responders Challenge/Family Fest heads north from its inaugural location in Downers Grove, Illinois to Palatine at the Deer Grove East Forest Preserve.

This exciting event will feature police, firefighters, auxiliary officers, EMT’s and others called to serve and protect (teams of 3) competing in an obstacle course challenge in the middle of the day. Attendees from the general public are invited to spectate the challenge and cheer on their favorite teams to victory.

The event has grown since its first year to include a Youth 1-Mile Race, 5K Run/Walk, Tug-O-War Challenge and Water Balloon Challenge that will all be open to the public (pre-registration is required and can be completed at http://firstrespondersfamilyfest.com/).

“We had great success in our first year, and wanted to extend the competitive nature of this event out to the general public; it is now definitely a family-friendly event where all can come and enjoy a day of fun while getting involved in one of the many events we are offering,” said Aaron Del Mar, founder of Adrenaline Sports Management, which produces the event.

The winning team in the First Responders’ Challenge will be able to donate 50% of the registration proceeds to the charity of their choice.

There also will be dozens of vendors on the event grounds providing product and service demonstrations, special offers and giveaways. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The event will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 8am (when registration begins for the Youth 1-Mile Race) until 2pm when the Balloon Fight is finished. For more information, visit http://firstrespondersfamilyfest.com/
