The Music Room owner Carol Cook will be speaking at Summer NAMM, which is dubbed the ‘music retail Oscars.’ The business is vying for Dealer of the Year award and other accolades.

June 23, 2015 (TMR) Palatine, IL.— The Music Room (TMR) in Palatine was recently named one of the world’s Top 100 music stores by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM).

The business also is a contender for the Dealer of the Year award, in addition to competing in seven other ’best of’ categories, including Best Store Design, Best Marketing and Sales Promotion, Best Online Engagement, the Music Makes a Difference Award, Best Emerging Dealer, Best Store Turnaround and the Best Customer Service.

The awards will be given out during Summer NAMM, a yearly music retail industry event that celebrates those named to the Top 100 Dealers list, which will be held in Nashville, Tennessee from July 9-11.

The Music Room owner Carol Cook was asked to be a speaker at the event, and plans to discuss how TMR has evolved over the last 20 years, while increasing the value provided to students.

“I am both excited and honored to join the ranks of my esteemed colleagues as I speak at the Summer NAMM convention,” Cook said.

The specific topic of discussion will be how the business eliminated their make-up lesson policy, and provided more advantages to customers in the process.

“It is my responsibility to show our students how to get the most out of their investment. We’ve raised the value of the lesson experience by encouraging (and rewarding) strong attendance, while emphasizing effective practice habits at home,” Cook said.

Businesses considered for the Top 100 status are evaluated for a sound business model, resourceful approaches, and effective implementation of best practices. A panel of independent judges scores each entry to determine who is named to the Top 100. Dubbed the ‘retail Oscars’ by Music Inc. magazine, NAMM’s Top 100 Dealer Awards spotlights the industry’s very best music product retailers.

“The music retailers honored with NAMM’s Top 100 Dealer status are those working hard to create positive musical experiences for everyone, from those just learning to experienced musicians,” said Joe Lamond, president and CEO of NAMM. “The Music Room is an important ambassador for making music in Palatine, Illinois and exemplifies the passion for making music that unites us all.”
