Explore New Gift Shop and Creative Marketplace in Downtown Palatine

Craft Collective features handmade, hand-embellished, and repurposed items from 30 area vendors – and it’s where you can find your next perfect gift!

February 7, 2023 (VPR) Palatine, IL. – Craft Collective at 19 N. Brockway Street in downtown Palatine is a creative marketplace and gift shop that opened in early December at the former Foxglove Cottage location, and features handmade, hand-embellished, and repurposed items created by nearly 30 area maker/vendors. It’s owned by Palatine couple Traci and Jason Goike, who are thrilled to provide another retail offering in Palatine’s historic downtown.

Craft Collective is also one of the newest members of the Downtown Palatine Business Association (DPBA) and Jason was recently installed as the DPBA President.

Among the wide range of offerings from local makers in the bright and colorful storefront are home décor items, jewelry, bath and body products, pet treats and toys, book pillows, homemade slime and playdough, and much, much more!

“We love Palatine and are proud to be one of the newest retail shops in what is a constantly developing downtown,” Jason said. “Many people may not know about the unique businesses here, so we invite you support local small businesses, and make a day of it shopping, pampering yourself and grabbing lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants.”

The Goike’s also offer their own unique product line at the shop called Homemade by TAG (Traci’s initials), that includes lighted glass blocks, metal signs and shadow boxes, along with home and welcome signs with interchangeable discs that display both themed and seasonal designs.

“We are very proud to offer a place where so many talented makers/vendors can feature their distinctive creations,” Traci Goike said. “For many, this is their first retail experience, and we understand the excitement around that. We got our start as vendors, and where our Homemade by TAG line is currently featured, at Painted Tree stores – with locations in Kildeer at the former Steinmart store, as well as in Bloomingdale and Naperville.”

For area maker/vendors who would like to sell their creations, there is space available at Craft Collective. Vendors pay a monthly fee and are asked to work one day a month at the store.

“Having the vendors here on a monthly basis creates a sense of community where they can build confidence and grow, while interfacing directly with customers as they learn about the other vendors featured here,” Jason said.
